The course consists of 18 videos totaling just over 2.5 hours. The average video length is only 9 minutes. Broken into four phases, we suggest watching all videos in each phase and practicing before moving forward. The actual training time varies based on your state's required hours and your teen's learning pace.
While teens can learn independently, the course is designed for joint parent-teen learning. Optimal effectiveness is achieved when parents take on the role of trainers. The course equips parents with proven defensive driving methods from day one, instilling safe lasting driving habits. Teens spend the most time in the car with their parents during their permit phase and these methods are essential for their habit development
The same reason you wouldn’t put your 15-year-old on the back of a thoroughbred racehorse in the Kentucky Derby. Jockeys spend hundreds of hours of training to reach that skill level. To do otherwise would be much too dangerous.
By starting in the parking lot your teen will learn all of the basic operations of the vehicle and will be prepared for the road. To do otherwise is also too dangerous.
This course is designed for both you and your teen to learn together. Even though you've been driving for three decades, today's roads are different, with increased traffic and distractions like texting and social media. It's not just about driving; your teen needs to learn defensive driving to stay safe in today's environment. There are methods to teaching defensive driving, most parents weren't taught these methods.
That's precisely why this course is for you. I will guide you through training your new teen driver right from the beginning to the end. I demonstrate the training in four phases, with in-car on road training, making you feel like you're in the car with me. You'll learn to be a trainer, not just a passenger. By the end of the training, your teen should be an excellent driver.
While driving schools offer a good starting point, they can be expensive, and the bulk of the training is still conducted by parents. Driving schools typically provide limited classroom hours and on-road driving sessions, not sufficient for developing defensive driving habits. Parents don't attend the school with the student, therefore they don't know how to reinforce the training. It takes up to 66 days to form most habits, and the parent is the only one who spends enough time with the teen to develop safe habits.
Knowing how to operate and keeping a vehicle between the white lines isn't enough Our course goes beyond and teaches defensive driving methods that prepare new teen drivers to anticipate and avoid hazards. It covers approaching stale green lights, navigating intersections, and various other techniques. With roads becoming increasingly crowded and distracted driving on the rise, this course ensures your teen learns defensive driving to protect against mistakes made by other drivers.
